Hi readers!
Carl here. Welcome to my new newsletter. My aim with these posts is to show you the various things I’ve been working on without having to be tied to the trappings of social media. Hopefully on a more direct vibe. I mean, you subscribed so I assume you want to know what I’ve been doing?
I think it will take me a few posts to find my feet. I’m going to try posting monthly and see how that goes.
As someone who suffers from periodic bouts of crippling low self-confidence I figure I should just keep putting stuff out there and see if something sticks. Because if you don’t try, how can you ever know? Anyway;
New Character
Meet Louche Lèshmon! AKA “THE DILDO” (real name unknown) A hermetically sealed fetishist/clubber turned unwitting hero! Comic book adventures to come!
THE DILDO is an idea that’s been rolling around in my head for a while. I hope to serialise this digitally in some way. Not sure on the best platform yet. Got any suggestions? I’m also really interested in getting a physical book printed. Maybe this would be one thing that would be featured in it. These are early attempts so the design may change. But I’m excited to try and tell the stories I have in mind for him!
Work in progress
I’d been making a four page strip this summer which was supposed to be entered in a competition. Sadly/frustratingly events transpired that meant it just wasn’t possible, but I have resolved to complete it and enter next year. Here’s a tiny sneak peak;
It’s my first proper crack at colouring a comic with watercolour and the learning curve is hella steep. Wish me luck! Oh, thanks!
Coming up
In other news I’m going to Thought Bubble this weekend (a comic convention in Harrogate.) It’s my first time and I’m making little books of my Instagram strips, to use as a sort of calling card when I meet people. Here’s a cover for one I just made;

I’ve been making a feature length film.
It’s called HARD EDGES. A gritty noir with a streak of dark humour that follows a guy in the throws of an existential crisis as he tries to piece together the real reason behind his friends untimely death. Here’s a glimpse!
It’s “in the can” and I’ve been editing it in my spare time. Here’s a shot from the film of our hero looking for someone in a bustling nightclub. In reality we shot this in the back of a pub with a small group of extras, which were really just friends and people we knew that came and helped out for fun, as you can see below!
Well that’s about the gist of it for now.
I’m still trying to figure out what sort of content to put in here. If you’re interested in my process stuff or anything else let me know! Sometimes I have so many ideas I don’t know which way to turn. What piqued your interest? What would you like to see more of? I’d love to hear!

All looks rad CP! Love the dildo character, can't wait to see more :) I enlarged the second picture of the Dildo and Lil P was looking over my shoulder and said "Oh, that's Daddy!" which is concerning. But if you ever make the Dildo into a film I think I'd be perfect for the role ;)
